Dominoes- A Team Game

Dominoes are certainly a team game. Four people play this game in teams of two each, who sit facing each other across the table. A standard domino consists of 28 pieces called bones, cards, stones, spinners or dominoes. The bone is tile shaped like a rectangle, with a line dividing its frontal part into two square ends. Each end has a number of black spots or is blank. The spots are arranged in a manner similar to the one you see on a six sided dice, but since there are also blank ends without spots, there are generally seven faces.

Most dominoes can be classified into block games or draw games. In block games, players pass and lose the turn when they have no "matching" bone. In draw games, players draw from the bone yard when they have no matching bone. The winner in the game of domino is the one who garners the most points. The objective is to play all the bones before an opponent does.

There is a lot of team spirit which one gets to witness in a domino game. The player with the most points is the first player. In the second game, the one to his left starts the game and so on. The number of dominoes depends on the number of players. Domino players exemplify the team spirit when they devise strategies in their game to make their own hand as varied as possible.

The players in the team analyze and try to study what bones other players have in hand. The partner required to play first takes the lead with the suit in which he or she is the strongest. The second player has to support the first player's hand by making moves that ensure that the first player has a game at all times. Both players have to compliment each other. This is more of a mind game, in which strategies are laid cleverly to confuse the opponents. Yes, it does take oodles of practice to be a master at dominoes.
