World Championship Dominoes Tournament
The annual World Championship Dominoes Tournament is going to be held in Andalusia , Alabama , this year. The tournament was held in the same venue previously way back on July 10-11, 1999. Lee Earls, Silver Creek, won the first price at the singles tournament with a cash prize of $3,000. It was a grand success beckoning a team of two players from anywhere in the world who played together as partners. In a span of six years, the tournament has dished out prize money of about US$900,000.
The 31 st annual World Championship Dominoes Tournament will be played in Andalusia , Alabama . The city of Andalusia and the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce merge with the Andalusia Rotary club to commemorate this event. One will be able to witness formidable team spirit, excellent chemistry between the players, and healthy spirit of fun and competition in these games. There are certain points to be observed when you play the annual world championship tournament this year. A player should be present at the table on the designated time or he will be disqualified. The time limit on the matches will be precisely 1 1/2 hours. Changing the partners is permissible before the first game of the tournament only. The player has to call out their points aloud before the next person plays, passes or draws. There are 150 points to be won per game. The "match" is best 2 out of 3.
The singles matches will be played one-on-one with each player drawing 7 dominoes. Both players are responsible to keep a tab on underdraws and overdraws before the play begins. There is a 50 point penalty for underdrawing or overdrawing. The penalty of the same amount can also apply to a "pass" which is declared when the player can actually play the game. Cheating in the form of word, action or gestures can impose a 50 point penalty or expulsion from the game.
