Blind Hughie

Blind Hughie, often played by children, is a fairly simple game using the double six set of dominoes. Since the players do not know what tiles are in their hand, Blind Hughie is also known as Blind Dominoes, Secret Dominoes, Blind-Man Block, and Billiton. Blind Hughie is played with two to four players with the standard twenty-eight tiles.

Each player draws one tile from the pile of twenty-eight after the dominoes are shuffled to determine who plays first. When all players have drawn a tile, the tiles are returned to the pile for reshuffle. In Blind Hughie, two players draw fourteen tiles each, three players draw nine, with one placed in the middle, and four players draw seven tiles each. The tiles are placed face down in front of each player, edge to edge in a long row or column. The players decide on the arrangement and order of play in Blind Hughie.

Blind Hughie begins with the first player turning over his tile and placing it in the center, continuing until he can no longer play. At this time, he turns the tile face down and moves it to the end of the row or column, unless it is a double, which is turned face up. The game of Blind Hughie ends when there are no more tiles to turn over or when there are no more possible plays. The game of Blind Hughie is then blocked and the winner is the player with the lowest or lightest number of dots or pips.
